Hay alguna idea de cómo desarrollar rugby profesional en la Argentina?
"Primero esta comisión va a desarrollar un anteproyecto que deberá ser presentado antes de fin de año, porque se viene un gran debate sobre este tema. Debemos definir una cosa u otra. Si queremos jugar contra Francia, Gales, Sudáfrica, debemos ser profesionales; pretender seguir compitiendo con las potencias siendo amateur es algo que no existe más.Y si no se quiere rugby profesional, dicho con todo respeto, jugaremos contra Uruguay, Brasil y alguno otro más. Eso es así de claro".

Cual es tu idea de equipos profesionales?

Ahora suma un nuevo cargo que, en rigor, viene a complementar el rol que ejecutaba desde que asumió esta dirigencia.

La novedad -además de que el rugby profesional quedó a cargo de alguien que viene de un club como CUBA, que es el más férreo defensor del amateurismo- es la incorporación de Pichot a esta subcomisión.

Sin dudas, el ex capitán es quien más conoce cómo se mueve el tablero del rugby en la alta competencia y su figura es sumamente respetada y escuchada en los lugares donde se toman las decisiones de importancia. Su incorporación puede tomarse como un buen signo y también revela el compromiso de Pichot con el rugby argentino más allá de lo que hizo adentro de la cancha, aunque, seguramente, también llegarán voces en contrario.

La designación de un CEO, Guillermo Accame, y la creación de esta subcomisión formaron parte de la agenda que la UAR tuvo hace unos días con Mark Egan, el director de servicios del IRB que estuvo la semana pasada en la Argentina.

Egan llevará este panorama del rugby argentino a la reunión que el IRB tendrá el próximo jueves.

Otro dato de esta subcomisión es que Paganini y Pichot estuvieron juntos en el Mundial de 1995. Uno como entrenador y el otro como jugador.

Participar en el Hemisferio Sur no es lo aconsejable. El esfuerzo economico y logístico es enorme y poco sustentable en el tiempo. Conformar elites para Torneos regionales va contra nuestra cultura de clubes y creo que seria un fracaso deportivo y económico.

Deberíamos volcar nuestras energias en desarrollar torneos locales de alta competencia de clubes a nivel Regional y Nacional, con mucho sustento de coaching, referato y marketing, buscando la máxima excelencia, a fin de que esos jugadores estén lo mas cerca posible de la Alta Competencia rentada, con fuerte apoyo de la IRB. Para ello debemos tener una organización muy eficaz, de altísimo nivel.

Participar en torneos internacionales de segundo orden, como Churchil Cup, y las ventanas disponibles de la IRB. Tratar de jugar ventanas como locales en Europa, en España, para mostrar que somos negocio y aspirar a incorporarnos al Hemisferio Norte.

Hoy, sin competencia regular, nuestros Pumas están entre los 5 mejores equipos del Mundo. Para mantenernos, debemos apoyarnos en nuestras fortalezas, que no son otras que los valores que transmiten nuestros jugadores, aprendidos en sus clubes.

No es romanticismo. Es lo que tenemos como fortaleza, que debemos reforzarla con altisima organización y PASION.

El International Rugby Board (IRB) manifestó su fuerte apoyo a este país, ratificándolo como miembro del Tier 1, aceptando el Plan Estratégico diseñado por la UAR, comprendiendo la cultura rugbística doméstica y destinando de aquí al 2012 una inyección económica de 7.900.000 libras esterlinas (alrededor del doble en dólares), una cifra prácticamente inédita para el deporte de estas tierras.

Lapasset, en la conferencia de prensa que brindó esta mañana en el Hotel Panamericano, aclaró también que el IRB no le pondrá condiciones a la UAR, aunque fue enfático al remarcar que el Plan Estratégico se debe cumplir. Más claro aún: pidió “accionar y unidad”. Esto último fue tomado por el titular de la UAR, Porfirio Carreras, quien sentenció que confía en una solución “rápida” a las divisiones que hoy existen en la dirigencia y que, entre otras cosas, no permitieron la aprobación de los nuevos estatutos, que contienen las estructuras profesionales que requiere el máximo organismo de la ovalada.

El oxígeno económico que tendrá la Argentina -”para que ya no esté más asilada del mundo”, según el propio Lapasset- incluye cuatro etapas. La primera, de 150 mil libras esterlinas que estarán destinadas exclusivamente a la función social que los clubes argentinos tienen el rugby. La segunda, de 250 mil de la misma moneda, a la creación de los Centros de Desarrollo y Alto Rendimiento, ubicados en Buenos Aires, Córdoba, Mendoza, Tucumán y Rosario. Conviene detenerse aquí. Es que Carreras explicó que esos Centros no estarán destinados exclusivamente a la alta competencia, sino también para nutrir a los clubes. “Esa es la parte que le hicimos entender al IRB; que nuestra realidad no es la misma que la del resto”, sostuvo. Lapasset confirmó esa visión ante la prensa.

La tercera consistirá en 3 millones de libras esterlinas, a un millón por año desde el 2009 hasta el 2011, exclusivamente para la preparación de los seleccionados. Y la cuarta, la más novedosa, otros 3 millones y medio de libras que la Argentina, por su condición de miembro del Tier 1, recibirá en el 2012, luego del Mundial de Nueva Zelanda. Aclaración rápida del francés: “Esa plata no es para pagarle a los jugadores”.

Lapasset explicó que la situación de la Argentina en ese grupo de elite no dependerá de los resultados futuros -puso como ejemplos a Gales e Irlanda, que continúan allí pese a haber sido eliminados en la primera rueda del último Mundial-, sino de cómo la UAR lleve adelante este plan.

“La IRB no puede establecer un plan único para todos los países. En estos días en la Argentina estuve comprobando la cultura de los clubes de aquí, que es única en el mundo. Por eso, aceptamos lo que nos plantea la UAR. Pero también queremos demostrarle al mundo que el profesionalismo puede convivir con el amateurismo, sin destruirlo. Sabemos de las preocupaciones, y las compartimos, pero el rugby debe mantener ante todo sus valores para seguir en el camino de ser uno de los espectáculos deportivos más importantes que existen hoy”, afirmó el francés.

En cuanto a una probable competencia internacional anual para Los Pumas, Lapasset no sólo dijo que deberá ser en el Sur, sino que lanzó una elíptica crítica a los integrantes del Sanzar (Australia, Nueva Zelanda y Sudáfrica), manifestando que deben abrir el espectro “para que no exista una sola forma de juego”. No sólo incluyó a la Argentina en el proyecto, sino a Japón. Puso el ejemplo de Europa y de cómo se fue ampliando el ahora Seis Naciones. En ese sentido, informó que en abril del año próximo habrá una reunion decisiva del Sanzar.

Lapasset también especificó que en el Sur deben realizarse torneos regionales -”no necesariamente profesionales”- con la intervención de equipos argentinos, más Uruguay y Chile.

La noche empezaba su función y el insólito calor de mediados de mayo ahora es una suave brisa típica de verano. Bernard Lapasset, el francés que preside el International Rugby Board (IRB), hacía su última escala de un día que arrancó bien temprano, cuando lo pasaron a buscar a las 9 de la mañana por un elegante hotel de Puerto Madero. El escenario, Virreyes Rugby Club, enclavado en el partido de San Fernando, a cuadras de la Panamericana y el Camino del Buen Ayre. Los reflectores alcanzan para iluminar sólo la cancha 1, recientemente sembrada y con un verde envidiable. Las otras dos, en penumbras, se van poblando de los juveniles que llegan para el entrenamiento de los jueves. Con los infantiles, suman unos 600. Se respira rugby.

Lapasset, al igual que en la recorrida que incluyó a los clubes San Martín, Belgrano, CASI y SIC, luce un rostro que denosta asombro por el escenario con el que se topa. Lo reciben Marcos Julianes y Carlos Ramallo, hombres del CASI y del SIC, que hace seis años iniciaron este proyecto con chicos que no sabían lo que era una ovalada. En la cancha que lleva su nombre, Rodolfo O’Reilly, otro símbolo de Virreyes, lo espera para acompañarlo en el primer vistazo. El francés lo abraza emocionado. Lo recuerda de cuando Michingo era entrenador de Los Pumas: “Hace como 15 años que no te veo”.

Inmediatamente, Lapasset es invitado al primer piso de la construcción que todavía está en ciernes. En la sala armada especialmente para que los chicos estudien mientras no juegan al rugby, al francés lo esperan unas facturas y unas gaseosas que no aceptará “porque vengo de comer en todos lados”.

Se inicia una breve e intensa charla, con Porfirio Carreras, el presidente de la UAR, como principal testigo. Julianes es enfático: “Este es un club pobre, pero así es la mayoría de los clubes de la Argentina. Nosotros queremos manifestarle nuestra preocupación porque no queremos que el profesionalismo termine matando a nuestros clubes. Y observamos que ese peligro existe”. Lapasset coincide al principio: “Nosotros también estamos preocupados y estamos trabajando para que se preserven los valores del rugby. Sabemos de los peligros que puede llevar el profesionalismo en un deporte como el nuestro. Pero quiero decir que la Copa del Mundo fue un ejemplo. Millones de personas han visto a jugadores con sus rostros limpios, jugando con corrección, sin un solo incidente dentro y fuera de las canchas. Eso también está en el rugby profesional”.

O’Reilly le explica que la realidad argentina es distinta a la de otros países. Que aquí existe una cultura muy fuerte de clubes y que el rugby “no es sólo saltar, empujar y correr; así lo entendemos nosotros”. Y sigue: “En la Argentina este es un deporte en el cual todos siempre pusimos sin llevarnos nada. Y Porfirio es un ejemplo de eso”.

El intercambio es breve pero intenso. Lapasset escucha atentamente. Antes, en díalogo con este periodista, sentenció que “Nosotros estamos comprendiendo que la realidad de todos los países no es la misma, y que Argentina tiene que mantener ese espíritu que se notó en el Mundial, donde Los Pumas han sido un ejemplo para todos”.

Carreras asiente en otro díalogo con el mismo interlocutor: “Creo que han entendido que nuestra esencia está en los clubes y que lo que generen Los Pumas también tiene que ser invertido en ellos”.

Ese es el debate que se viene. Qué hacer con los millones de dólares que ahora sí vendran. Cómo y de qué modo se construye la pirámide. Si de arriba para abajo, con resultados inmediatos y futuro incierto, o a la inversa, con un proyecto que llevará mucho tiempo pero que el rugby argentino sabe de qué se trata porque tiene la base. Es una tarea que debe involucrar a todos y no sólo a esta dirigencia. Y en medio de tantos números vale recalcar por ahora que Carreras, que es el presidente de la UAR, sigue hablando de la importancia de los clubes.

En su periplo, Lapasset fue recibido por distintos Pumas. En San Martín, por Jorge Dartiguelongue; en Belgrano, por Alejandro Cubelli; en el CASI, por Alejandro Travaglini y Gonzalo Beccar Varela, y en el SIC, por Diego Cash, Gonzalo Longo y José Cilley.

“Cuando vio nuestro club dijo que era fantástico”, contó Dartiguelongue, Puma del 65. El francés quedó impactado por la sede de Belgrano de Virrey del Pino, donde almorzó con dirigentes de los cuatro clubes fundadores de la UAR. También se maravilló por la edificación del CASI, mientras que en el SIC no sólo hizo escala en el club, sino que fue al Anexo, acompañado además por el ex presidente de la UAR, Emilio Perasso.

A la noche, Lapasset tuvo distracción. Cena a la Argentina y espectáculo de tango.

Mañana, a las 10.30, en el Hotel Panamericano, dará una conferencia de prensa. A la tarde volverá a Europa. Allí transmitirá sus experiencias en un país que vive el rugby de una manera que quizá no entre en las estructuras ni en los conceptos de quienes hoy manejan el negocio de la ovalada. Pero esa es otra historia.

Lapasset estuvo hoy alrededor de siete horas en la sede que la UAR tiene en la calle Rivadavia y allí, después de escuchar el plan de desarrollo que piensa implemantar la Argentina, brindó una amplia disertación ante los presidentes de todas las Uniones y del Consejo de la UAR. En la UAR esperaban con ansiedad y cierta preocupación la llegada de Lapasset, ya que en un comunicado difundido justo ayer por el IRB, se especifica que la millonaria inyección económica arribará a estas tierras “una vez que (la UAR) finalice su reestructuración gubernamental y organizativa”. O sea, cuando estén listos los estatutos que aún no se aprobaron.

En declaraciones al diario La Nación de hoy, Porfirio Carreras, presidente de la UAR, sostuvo: “La reforma de nuestro estatuto no tiene nada que ver con el aporte de fondos de la IRB. Sería mejor modificarlos para cumplir con algunos requisitos solicitados, pero no impide el envío de dinero. Tengo la prueba de que algo de la plata ya nos fue entregada”.

Ese será el primer punto que en la UAR le plantearán a Lapasset e, incluso, los dirigentes argentinos tratarán de que el francés lo explique en extenso en la conferencia de prensa que dará el viernes y que marcará el fin de su misión en este país.

Preguntas: ¿Lapasset dirá algo distinto a lo que menciona el comunicado de la institución que él preside? ¿Los argentinos se encontrarán con otro panorama del que trajeron de la última asamblea que el IRB realizó en Dublin el 1º de mayo?

Por eso, el día clave será mañana. Allí, Lapasset se juntará con los presidentes de todas las Uniones, las mismas que no llegaron a un acuerdo para renovar los estatutos. Quizá de lo que salga de ese cónclave, el francés pueda emitir una opinión definitiva.

Antes de encontrarse con Lapasset, los titulares de las Uniones tendrán una reunión en la UAR, pactada a partir de las 13 y con la presencia de Carreras. La intención es, al menos, acercar en algo las posiciones entre Buenos Aires y el Interior en los tres artículos que frenaron la aprobación de los otros 50, y en los cuales están incluídos los puntos que más le interesan al IRB.

El jueves, Lapasset tiene previsto visitar algunos clubes. Uno de ellos sería Virreyes.

Otro tema que anda revoloteando el ambiente del rugby argentino es el viejo y conflictivo pleito con SportFive. Este blog tuvo acceso al dictamen de la fiscal general de la Cámara Comercial, Alejandra Gils Carbó, que es favorable a la posición de la UAR.

En las conclusiones se expone: “a)revocar la resolución apelada con los alcances expuestos, excluyendo del cómputo de las mayorías al acreedor Sportfive de Argentina; b) declarar abstractas las demás cuestiones planteadas”.

Según pudo saberse, en las últimas horas también algunas Uniones del Interior rechazaron ofertas para concretar contratos publicitarios a través de SportFive.

La Argentina regresa con muy buenas noticias de la reunión de consejo que finalizó ayer en el International Rugby Board (IRB). A partir del año que viene y hasta el 2011 recibirá un total de 3 millones de libras esterlinas (algo así como 6 millones de dólares), repartidos a razón de un millón de la moneda británica por temporada. El dinero, producto de los dividendos que arrojó el último Mundial, deberían ser invertidos, entre otras cosas, en la preparación de Los Pumas con vistas a Nueva Zelanda 2011.

La información fue proporcionada hoy a este blog por Hugo Porta, quien participó del cónclave en Dublin como representante argentino en el IRB. “Es mérito principalmente de los jugadores y también de las gestiones que viene realizando la UAR para que se le reconozcan a la Argentina sus derechos por ser miembro del Tier1″, señaló el ex capitán de Los Pumas, quien por otro lado se enteró en la capital irlandesa que es uno de los candidatos para ingresar al Hall de la Fama en la próxima elección que hará la entidad que rige al rugby mundialmente.

El último Mundial, celebrado en Francia, fue un éxito económico sin precedentes: el IRB anunció que obtuvo ganancias limpias por 120 millones de libras esterlinas. El informe presentado por el Comité Organizador señaló además que hubo 97 por ciento de asistencia en todos los estadios.

Porta, quien estuvo en Dublin junto a Ricardo García Fernández, presidente de la subcomisión de Selección y quien está haciendo las veces de CEO de la UAR, informó que en los días previos a la reunión de ayer se avanzó con las autoridades del Sanzar del Hemisferio Sur para integrar a Los Pumas en un Tres Naciones extendido.

García Fernández, en tanto, se quedó en Dublin para ultimar con los sudafricanos los detalles del test que Los Pumas jugarán el 9 de agosto en Johannesburgo con los Springboks, en conmemoración de los 90 años de Nelson Mandela.

Por otro lado, la Argentina perdió su silla en el Comité Ejecutivo del IRB, que de ahora en más será ocupada por Italia, que apoyada por Inglaterra le ganó la votación a Canadá, impulsada por Samoa.

Porta también le indicó a periodismo-rugby que “no hubo tiempo” para que el IRB se ocupe de analizar el Plan Estratégico presentado por la UAR, pero agregó que éste ya está en poder del titular del organismo, el francés Bernard Lapasset, quien, por otra parte, también sabe que aquí no se aprobaron los nuevos estatutos.

Desde la UAR se había insistido ante el IRB, sobre todo desde enero del año pasado, para que a la Argentina se le reconozcan los derechos que le asisten por ser miembro del Tier1, grupo que integran los países que juegan el Seis Naciones y el Tres Naciones, además de Canadá y Japón. La soberbia actuación de Los Pumas en el Mundial, sin dudas, contribuyó a que esto se concrete. Y por eso, ahora se aprobó esta inyección económica que no tiene antecedentes en el rugby argentino.

   No obstante no es tan fácil. IRB instiga a Sanzar a unir a Los Pumas a su torneo más importante. Sanzar cumple y lo hace imponiendo sus condiciones (las cuales, vale decirlo, no son descabelladas). El principal pedido es que Argentina presente su mejor equipo, con los jugadores que ya son reconocidos por todos mundialmente. Y es ahí donde las chances de que Argentina tome parte de este evento se hacen casi nulas debido a que no podría cumplir con un requisito básico: presentar a sus mejores jugadores. Esto se daría puesto que la mayoría de los jugadores de élite se encuentran disputando los campeonatos en distintos clubes europeos que no los cederían.
   Entonces, ¿cuál es la solución? Tanto Sanzar como IRB, buscan que el dinero que la International Rugby Board pretende destinar a la UAR se utilice para crear una competencia de alto nivel y profesional en nuestro país con la finalidad de que los jugadores no sientan la necesidad de emigrar.
   Con esto, se podría amoldar el calendario de competencia del torneo que se crease en nuestro país con el de los certámenes del resto de los países del Hemisferio Sur y así Los Pumas podrían ingresar en el Tri Nations.
La respuesta formal por parte de la UAR deberá llegar a manos de los dirigentes de Sanzar antes del 5 de marzo.

Describe la sensible crónica de Mick Cleary publicada en la edición de ayer del diario inglés Telegraph que el lunes por la noche se lloró por la Argentina en el centro de Londres. Agustín Pichot, capitán y símbolo de Los Pumas que consiguieron el memorable tercer puesto en el último Mundial, recibió una particular distinción de los periodistas escritos de rugby del Reino Unido. No es un lugar cualquiera el que ha ocupado el medio scrum. La Rugby Writter’s anual awards sólo realizó nueve excepciones de este tipo desde que creó los premios en 1991. Y en ese espacio estuvieron, por ejemplo, el francés Phillipe Sella, el sudafricano Francois Pienaar y glorias locales como Will Carling, Jason Leonard y Sir Clive Woodward.

Pïchot no estuvo solo en la ceremonia realizada en el Cafe Royal. Lo acompañaron otros Pumas: Marcelo Loffreda (otro periódico del Reino Unido, The Independent, publicó el lunes un largo e interesante perfil/nota sobre él), los hermanos Juan e Ignacio Fernández Lobbe (ambos en el Sale) y Juan Leguizamón (juega en el London Irish). La situación argentina, en el exterior y en lo doméstico, fue el eje de una reunión en la cual el brillante fullback Jason Robinson fue premiado como la Personalidad del Año.

La nota del Telegraph no sólo plaga de elogios a Pichot (lo define como “un apasionado embajador del rugby y de su país”), sino que trata la actualidad del rugby argentino, basándola, fundamentalmente, en la histórica actuación en Francia. El título señala que el rugby argentino necesita más que un merecido abrazo.

Este hito alcanzado por Pichot se agrega a otros recientes. Juan Martín Hernández fue considerado el mejor jugador de Francia del 2007 por el prestigioso semanario Midi Olympique; Felipe Contepomi fue elegido como el mejor rugbier de Irlanda por los periodistas escritos de ese país; Loffreda fue escogido para entrenar al equipo más poderoso del país en el cual se inventó el rugby. Privilegios de muy pocos el del rugby argentino.

¿Y acá? A menos de tres meses del tercer puesto en el Mundial conseguido por Los Pumas, en vez de estar festejando y de cosechar lo conseguido, la dirigencia se encuentra enfrascada en una inútil pelea por el poder. Que el cambio lo lidero yo pero me quedo; que el cambio se hace pero lo manejo yo; dirigentes que usan la palabra celebrar para una patética asamblea en la que supuestamente debía trazarse el futuro del rugby argentino y que concluyó antes de cumplirse la media hora; abogados en el medio; cuestiones leguleyas ajenas al juego; lamentables intercambios de cartas; desconfianzas; postergaciones para febrero; comunicados declarándose vencedores como si esto se tratase de un test-match; si está bien o mal que Hugo Porta reemplace a Carlos Tozzi en el International Rugby Board (IRB) y un sinfín de desencuentros que no sólo cada vez alejan más a Los Pumas de una competencia internacional, sino que ponen en peligro el aprovechamiento de la ebuliición general que ocasionó la labor del equipo nacional en Francia. Como me decía, apesadumbrado, un hombre que lleva más de 60 años en el rugby en una charla íntima: “Lamentablemente, cuando llegamos a dirigentes casi todos nos olvidamos de lo que hicimos como jugadores”.

No es nuevo este escenario. Si uno revisa la historia del rugby argentino se encontrará, paralelamente, con la defensa de los valores, con las hazañas de Los Pumas y con las peleas intestinas de los dirigentes. Ocurre que este momento es otro. Quizá único, aunque muchos no lo quieran ver. ¿Cuándo más nos encontraremos ante una posibilidad tan cercana de conseguir un espacio en el concierto internacional y de, fundamentalmente, ampliar la pirámide en la Argentina? Todo parece indicar que el tren se puede marchar.

Es cierto, como lo refleja la mayor parte de la prensa extranjera, que en el Norte no quieren saber nada con la Argentina; que el Sur se va en amagues y que el IRB hasta ahora sólo aportó palabras porque no le quedaba otra que abordar el tema. Pero si se va en busca de un objetivo unidos, con grandeza, pensando en el juego, y se pierde, bueno, al menos se intentó. Así, como estamos adentro, es difícil que nos tomen en serio.

Lamentablemente, las noticias que emocionan siguen llegando de afuera. La prensa extranjera continúa abordando y encontrando explicaciones al fenómeno del rugby argentino. Aqui, se apuesta al instante. Y si es exitoso, mucho mejor. Los grandes medios nacionales ya casi no tienen espacio para el rugby. Desde acá, intentamos lo contrario. Y, afortunadamente, no estamos solos. De hecho, parte de la información de esta nota la aportaron dos lectores: Toluba y Gustavo Castiglioni.

El título del Telegraph dice que el rugby argentino necesita algo más que un abrazo. Es verdad. Pero antes lo tenemos que abrazar acá. Mimarlo un poco más. Y no golpearlo tanto. No vaya a ser que un día de estos se canse y pase a ser otra cosa.

CARTA ABIERTA AL RUGBY ARGENTINO
"Me dirijo a Ustedes a través de la presente para manifestarles el pensamiento y sentir de la Unión de Rugby de Buenos Aires que tengo el honor de presidir en lo que hace al Proyecto de Reforma del Estatuto de la UAR que será tratado en la Asamblea Extraordinaria a celebrarse el 28/12/07" (Néstor Galán, Presidente de la URBA).
Todos ustedes saben que la URBA no comparte este Proyecto de Reforma de Estatutos que ha sido presentado y aprobado por el Consejo Directivo de la UAR y girado a todas las Uniones para su análisis y eventual aprobación.- Esta Unión ya ha manifestado que no solamente no comparte su contenido, sino que no comparte los mecanismos y procedimientos llevados adelante para su elaboración, lo que ha merecido el rechazo unánime de todos los Clubes que la integran. Nos hubiese gustado -como ha sido práctica corriente- que todas las Uniones Provinciales intervengan en su elaboración, que seamos todos en conjunto los que consensuemos su contenido y necesidades.- De esta manera nos hubiésemos evitado, la confusa situación que se ha generado, invocando primero como principal motivo de esta reforma, una exigencia externa, luego “una necesidad que compartimos todos”, con un texto que esta muy lejos de responder a ese motivo, observando inclusive que a este principal argumento, el de un seleccionado profesional que juegue con los mejores en forma regular, se le han ido adosando “otros motivos” de manera equívoca que no han hecho otra cosa que teñirlo sospechosamente de duda y enfrentando a las Uniones hermanas sin sentido alguno.- Estamos convencidos en nuestra Unión que ni a la IRB, ni al mundo del Rugby en general, le puede interesar si nuestros Clubes deben adherirse directa mente a la UAR o deben hacerlo a través de sus Uniones Provinciales, o si se reparte dinero entre sus miembros o si la conformación del Comité Ejecutivo y las funciones “full time” que se le asignan limita la participación de las Uniones del Interior o aún si se subvencionan los viajes de los Torneos Regionales.- Todos estos temas, y aún otros que puedan generarse y que seguramente nos interesan a muchos, nos exigirán un gran debate y trabajo “entre todos”, un debate que sabemos no está signado con un límite de tiempo ni por urgencia alguna, lo que nos exigirá llevar adelante una reforma seria, consensuada y participativa.- En el afán de SUMAR Y DAR EL EJEMPLO a todo EL RUGBY DEL PAIS que nos está pidiendo a gritos UN GESTO DIGNO Y DE GRANDEZA A TODA LA DIRIGENCIA DEL RUGBY que demuestre que somos capaces de relegar las diferencias y pensar en nuestro juego, en nuestros jugadores y en el bien del rugby argentino, en la URBA creemos que debemos por CONVICCION dejar de lado excusas o diferencias y ponernos a buscar y encontrar coincidencias, que estoy seguro que las hay y muchas.- En este sentido, todos nosotros compartimos: a) QUE HAY QUE REFORMAR EL ESTATUTO ACTUAL para adecuarnos al ritmo y modalidades de la competencia internacional.- b) QUE LAS UNIONES TIENEN DISTINTAS NECESIDADES DE COMPETENCIA, que deben ser atendidas.- c) QUE LAS UNIONES NECESITAN QUE EL DESARROLLO Y LA DIFUSION VUELVAN A SER ATENDIDAS Y CONDUCIDAS DESDE LA UAR, para que sean eficaces.- d) QUE HAY QUE CREAR UN GERENCIAMIENTO PROFESIONAL que nos permita un manejo dinámico y a la altura de las mejores Uniones del mundo.- e) QUE HAY QUE CREAR CENTROS DE ALTO RENDIMIENTO Y CAPACITACION, EN DISTINTAS REGIONES QUE ABARQUEN TODO EL PAIS, para que puedan ser aprovechados por todos y permitan el fortalecimiento de todas las Uniones, lo que seguramente, en el tiempo, nivelará los niveles de juego y competencia de todo el País.- Hoy estamos frente a una Asamblea Extraordinaria que nos exige responsabilidad para acordar una futura reforma que, adoptada sin apuros y sin dobleces, nos permita marcar ese camino. Por eso, en esta oportunidad debemos rechazar el proyecto propuesto invitando a todas las Uniones amigas –las 25 que componen la UAR- a trabajar en pos de los objetivos comunes, atendiendo a las necesidades arriba enumeradas.- También debemos reconocer, pese al esfuerzo realizado por llevar adelante esta reforma, que no hay tiempo suficiente para modificar esta situación, y es por ello que debemos sumar como una coincidencia más, el hecho que necesitamos tiempo para llevarla adelante, para que definitivamente podamos elaborar unidos un escenario claro para todos los participantes y que debemos hacerlo para que nuestra Constitución sea el fiel reflejo de lo que pensamos y de lo que queremos ser.- En este camino debemos seguir dando el ejemplo sin resignar los principios básicos que nos enseñó este deporte, privilegiando el COMPROMISO, el RESPETO, la ETICA, la AMISTAD para finalmente sentirnos orgullosos de haber logrado juntos conformar un solo equipo y no el de ser 400 voluntades dispersas.- Y es por ello que debemos seguir siendo respetuosos del Estatuto actual y dar UN EJEMPLO MAS, demostrando que más allá de las posiciones adoptadas por todos hasta acá, el rugby también respeta los acuerdos y las normas, los que hoy nos están señalando que debemos dar paso a las nuevas autoridades, convocando a la mayor brevedad a la Asamblea Ordinaria que permita este recambio para que finalmente sea esta nueva conducción la que termine el trabajo y la iniciativa de reformar el Estatuto que han tenido nuestros actuales administradores, convirtiéndonos todas las Uniones del País en fieles garantes de los puntos principales que hemos señalado como coincidencias.- Pensamos en nuestra Unión que debemos promover estos cambios que se avecinan, pero también somos concientes que tenemos la obligación y la responsabilidad de buscar las avenencias y coincidencias que permitan la unidad definitiva del rugby, marcando un camino que deje de lado las divergencias y discordias que no nos llevan a ningún lado.- “Es probable que dando el ejemplo no sea la mejor manera de enseñar; tal vez sea la única forma de hacerlo", Albert Schweitzer Buenos Aires, 26 de diciembre de 2007.- Néstor O. Ahora el principal motivo es que la mayoría de los jugadores albicelestes juegan en el viejo continente, lo cual hace que los calendarios sean diferentes y hace imposible que disputen este campeonato con jugadores de sus ligas internas.
